What every invoice template must include

Australian tax law requires specific fields on any tax invoice over $82.50. Regardless of your industry, every professional invoice needs:

  • Your business name and ABN (required for tax invoices in Australia)
  • The word 'Tax Invoice' clearly displayed
  • Your client's legal name and address
  • A unique invoice number
  • The issue date and a specific due date
  • Itemised line items with description, quantity, rate, and total
  • Subtotal, GST amount, and total due
  • Payment details: bank BSB/account, PayID, or payment link

See GST invoice requirements in Australia for the full ATO rules.
